"Born in a different England". This collage is named after the Blyth Power song of the same name but it’s not an illustration of the song itself. Just a memory jog of things I think I remember as a kid. The song is about how things were never as good as you remember them or as good as some people would have you believe they were.
I agree with this sentiment yet the warm glow here is that when I was young, I believed things would be become better in the future. Life was an adventure and you were going places where the computer promised more leisure time, not some people losing their jobs while others work ever longer hours. It seemed as if left politics would smash class barriers and so on. I now can’t see any way out of the grim lives so many of us lead, so in that way, the past was better.
